Certifications that are worth it

In short: A certificate is worth it when it fits your next goal, is recognized in the market, and is combined with a real project — cloud, security, and Kubernetes/platform certifications have the strongest impact. For pure development roles, projects and code often count more, so don't collect badges for their own sake.

Where certificates have strong impact

  • Cloud: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications are recognized and close to the market.
  • Security: entry-level to expert certificates are valuable in a regulated, scarce field.
  • Kubernetes/platform: hands-on certificates back up platform know-how.
  • Project/Agile: helpful depending on the role, but no substitute for technical skill.

Where they bring less

For pure development roles, projects and code often count more than certificates. Don't collect badges for their own sake.

The rule of thumb

A certificate is worth it when it (1) fits your next goal, (2) is recognized in the market, and (3) is combined with a real project. Then it's an accelerator — otherwise just an entry.
